ACP/LDC SUGAR GROUP DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED WITH EU COUNCIL PROPOSAL ON SUGAR

The ACP/LDC Sugar Suppliers to the EU express deep disappointment with the EU Agriculture Council’s proposal to extend the Single Common Market Organisation for sugar by only two years to 2017 instead of 2020 as agreed by the European Parliament.  In so doing the ACP/LDC countries join European Sugar Manufacturers Association (CEFS) and the European Beet Growers Federation (CIBE).

The ACP Sugar Group welcomes the vote on 13 March 2013 by the European Parliament in support of Comagri’s proposal for the continuation of the current beet sugar sugar quota provisions until 30 September 2020. Read further ...

FESPACO 2013: THE SPECIAL ACPCULTURES+ PRIZE HAS BEEN AWARDED TO KENYAN DIRECTOR BERYL MAGOKO FOR HER DOCUMENTARY FILM “THE CUT”.

 

The jury for the ACPCultures+ special prize, composed of Michèle Dominique Raymond (ACP Assistant-Secretary General), presiding, and Boris Zakowski (audiovisual attaché of the Embassy of France to Burkina Faso), Osange Silou-Kieffer (journalist), Raymond Tiendrebeogo (director and professor at the Ougadougou Institute of Sound and Vision, and Perrine Ledan (Audiovisual and Cinema expert) as members, choose to award the prize to the documentary film “The Cut”, by a young, 28 year-old Kenyan Director; Beryl Magoko.

ACP Fish II committee meets to discuss final projects

Brussels, 1 February 2013/ ACP: ACP Fish II Programme will hold its 5th Steering Committee meeting on February 5th 2013, at the ACP Headquarters in Brussels. 
ACP Fish II is entering the final year for implementing the last 75 projects from a total of 189 to complete all the Programme planned assignment in support of fisheries management and trade in the six ACP regions.

ACP-EU film prize to be awarded at 23rd FESPACO

Brussels, 25 January 2013/ ACP: An ACP-EU prize of 2,500 euros was recently announced at a press conference held at the ACP headquarters in Brussels, within the framework of the ACPCultures+ Programme,  and will be awarded at the 23rd FESPACO (Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou). 

 

ACP welcomes EP Agriculture Committee vote for extending EU sugar production quotas to 2020

Brussels, 25 January 2013/ ACP: The ACP Sugar Group is pleased with the vote on the Single CMO Regulation in the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development on 23 January 2013, which supports the extension of the current quota provisions until 30 September 2020.  The extension of sugar quotas will help to ensure fair, stable and reasonable remunerative EU sugar market prices to ACP and LDC exporters under Economic Partnership Agreements and the Everything But Arms Initiative.

Brussels, 14 January 2013/ ACP: Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Swaziland, the Hon. Senator Themba Masuku, met with the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Dacian Cioloş, and with permanent representatives and Ambassadors from the Republics of Italy and Slovenia and the Kingdom of Sweden.
