The Bureau of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA), chaired by Co-Presidents Glenys Kinnock and Georges Rawiri (Gabon), met in Brussels on 21 and 22 February 2006,to prepare the next JPA meeting.
During the meeting, the Bureau fixed 17 - 23 June 2006 as the date for the 11th session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly scheduled for Vienna, Austria. It also chose the urgent themes, with resolutions, to be examined during the 11th JPA session, namely, Avian flu, and the Situation in the Sudan.
The Bureau members also heard the reports of the fact-finding mission to Tanzania, and of the visit to the Panafrican Parliament in Johannesburg, South Africa. They held discussions following the presentation of the report by Vice-Presidents Michael Gahler and Tokhet Talagi (Niue) on the issue of immigration in France, Spain and Italy, from the standpoint of Human Rights.
