Declaration of the ACP Committee of Ambassadors on the Developments in the situation Guinea

 

The ACP Committee of Ambassadors, meeting in its 795 th Session held on 26 April 2007;

Recalling its Declaration of 15 February 2007 on the situation in the Republic of Guinea;

Recalling the ACP Group’s commitment to peaceful dialogue as an essential tool for resolving all types of crises;

Reiterating its solidarity for the people of Guinea;

Welcomes the positive developments in the political situation in the Republic of Guinea;

Pays tribute to the African Union and ECOWAS for their contribution towards the positive resolution of the crisis in Guinea;

Welcomes the appointment of a Prime Minister, Mr. Lansana KOUYATE on 26 February 2007;

Pledges its full support to the new Government that was formed on 28 March 2007 and encourages it to ensure the social, political and economic recovery of the country; and

Urges all the active forces to contribute to the maintenance of peace in Guinea, and to join forces with the new Government in its efforts to ensure the well-being of the Guinean people.
