The General Secretariat of the ACP Group of States announces the vacancy at the Secretariat of the post ofConference Messenger/Driver (Category L1)
The post is reserved exclusively for ACP nationals, and applications must reach the General Secretariat not later than 6 February 2004.
They must be accompanied by a complete curriculum vitae, certified copies of diplomas, certificates and any other document testifying to the competence and professional experience of the candidates.
The General Secretariat of the ACP Group of States remains at the disposal of interested parties for any additional information they may require.
ANNEX 1
JOB DESCRIPTION
CONFERENCE MESSENGER/DRIVER (Grade L1)
Main duties:
This officer shall function under the direction of the Head of Conference Services and shall:
- prepare the rooms for meetings, by putting out the name plaques of the participating member countries, paper and pencils, according to the plan;
- transport conference documents from the Xerox room to the office of the Conference Secretary;
- transport the documents needed for a particular meeting to the meeting room and distribute them;
- tidy up the room and interpreters’ booths, putting out more paper and pencils and if necessary, putting name plaques back in their proper places;
- gather up, after each meeting, any unused documents, which should then be checked in by the Conference Secretary who will have a written note made of their quantity and reference number;
- make a list of name plaques, keeping them in order and reporting any which is missing; in the same way, checking on the stock of conference stationery for each meeting;
- passing telephone messages or notes to participants;
- collecting any belongings which participants may have left behind at the end of the meeting, and making these available to the Conference Secretary for return to their owners;
- assist in the duties of the General Services Driver as the case may be assigned to him by the competent authorities
- carrying out any duty that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Secondary school education
Working knowledge of French and English
At least 3 years of relevant work experience
Computer literacy would be an asset
Valid driving licence (knowledge of Brussels)
ANNEX 2
In conformity with Article 12 of the Staff Regulations, staff in General Services (GS) and Local (L) categories are appointed by the Secretary-General in accordance with Annex II of the Staff Regulations, titled Recruitment Procedure.
The Salary attached to the post, is within the following range:
Grade L1:
Net monthly salary: from 1.284,09 € (1st step)
To 1.643,68 € (15th step)
Monthly Housing allowance:
- L1 = 543,33 €
In addition, there are other advantages, such as the Secretariat’s contribution to a pension scheme, health insurance, tuition fees for dependent children, etc….
In the framework of their functions, members of staff are governed by the Staff Regulations of the Secretariat (ACP/41/017/03 Rev. 5) and by any other decision that may be adopted by the competent ACP authorities regarding employment.
