ACP Statement-International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction

The ACP Group joins the international community in commemorating  today, 10 October 2007, the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction.  

The ACP Group is committed  to the promotion of a global culture of natural disaster reduction, the development of Early Warning Mechanisms and capacity building for disaster prevention, and long term reconstruction and development in its member States and Regions. The ACP Group’s efforts to secure these objectives are enshrined in the creation of the ACP-EU Natural Disaster Facility, which is funded under the 9^th European Development Fund (EDF).

The ACP Group will continue to collaborate with international organizations, including the EU within the context of the 10^th EDF, to expand the scope of natural disaster reduction and capacity building.
