ACP/LDC SUGAR GROUP DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED WITH EU COUNCIL PROPOSAL ON SUGAR
The ACP/LDC Sugar Suppliers to the EU express deep disappointment with the EU Agriculture Council’s proposal to extend the Single Common Market Organisation for sugar by only two years to 2017 instead of 2020 as agreed by the European Parliament. In so doing the ACP/LDC countries join European Sugar Manufacturers Association (CEFS) and the European Beet Growers Federation (CIBE).

The jury for the ACPCultures+ special prize, composed of Michèle Dominique Raymond (ACP Assistant-Secretary General), presiding, and Boris Zakowski (audiovisual attaché of the Embassy of France to Burkina Faso), Osange Silou-Kieffer (journalist), Raymond Tiendrebeogo (director and professor at the Ougadougou Institute of Sound and Vision, and Perrine Ledan (Audiovisual and Cinema expert) as members, choose to award the prize to the documentary film “The Cut”, by a young, 28 year-old Kenyan Director; Beryl Magoko.

New presidency for the ACP Group
On Thursday 21st February, the ACP Committee of Ambassadors officially ushered in the new presidency of the Group for the period February to July 2013. The new President of Council is the Foreign Affairs Minister of Botswana, Mr. Phandu T. SKELEMANI, while the Chairman of the Committee of Ambassadors in Brussels is Mr. Samuel O. OUTLULE.
