DECLARATION OF THE ACP GROUP ON THE ERUPTION OF THE VOLCANO OF FOGO IN CABO VERDE

The ACP Council of Ministers at its 100th Session held at ACP House, in Brussels, Belgium from 10th to 12th December 2014;

Expressing its Deep Concern on the humanitarian impact of the eruption of the volcano of Fogo in Cabo Verde, which started in the morning of 23 November 2014 and affecting the entire population of Chã das Caldeiras and the surrounding areas, totalling nearly 2000 people and still spewing lava to this day;

DECLARATION BY THE ACP COMMITTEE OF AMBASSADORS ON THE POLITICAL SITUATION IN BURKINA FASO

The Committee of Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) has been closely following the developments in the political situation in Burkina Faso.
 
The Committee extends its condolences to the bereaved families and expresses heartfelt compassion and solidarity with all the people of Burkina Faso.

A.  HAVING REGARD to the resolutions on sugar, cotton and bananas  adopted  by the 98th session of the ACP Council of Ministers held in Brussels  (Belgium), on 10 and 11 December 2013 ;

DECLARATION BY THE ACP COUNCIL OF MINISTERS ON THE TERRORIST ATTACK IN MPEKETONI, KENYA

The ACP Council of Ministers, meeting in its 99th session in Nairobi (Kenya) from 16 to 18 June 2014,
 
- DEEPLY SHOCKED at the terrorist attack carried out during the night of 15 June 2014, by a group of about fifty heavily-armed men in several neighbourhoods at the Mpeketoni settlement area, which killed some 50 innocent and defenseless civilians; 
 

DECLARATION OF THE ACP COUNCIL OF MINISTERS ON THE SECURITY SITUATION IN THE NORTH OF MALI

The 99th session of the Council of Ministers of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) held in Nairobi Kenya, from 16 to 18 June 2014, Having examined the report of the ACP Committee of Ambassadors regarding the security situation in the north of Mali which was supplemented by the Malian delegation present at the Council session;

a.                 HAVING REGARD to the European Parliament’s vote on and approval of the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and the major principles of the European Commission’s proposals, particularly the application of a ceiling for payments that does not meet the ACP Group’s demand for a shift from a 65% decoupling to a 100%  decoupling of internal support granted to European Union cotton farmers ;

B. NOTING that with the end of the EU sugar  and isoglucose quotas  in September 2017  the ACP would lose its preferential market share as a result of open competition among ACP, EU and third country;
